How I work

EFT tapping

Attention to a feeling or thought, combined with tapping points on the face and upper body. I use it within sessions when it suits the concern, not as a separate service.

What happens in a session?

  1. 01

    Something specific

A situation you're worried about, a memory that still feels upsetting, or a thought that keeps returning.

  2. 02

    What you notice

A feeling, a sentence you keep telling yourself, or tension somewhere in your body.

  3. 03

    A guided sequence

I guide the tapping while we stay with it, pausing to discuss what you notice.

You don't need to know the tapping points or prepare particular words.

When I might suggest it

Perhaps you can talk about a conversation calmly, but your chest tightens when you imagine having it.

Or you recognise a self critical thought and still get caught up in it. Whether we include EFT depends on your concern, your preferences and how you respond.

It's one approach within your agreed plan. I explain why I'm suggesting it, and we keep the focus on what you came to work on.

Questions about EFT

What does EFT stand for?

Emotional Freedom Techniques. It is commonly called EFT tapping.

Do I need to believe in energy pathways?

The tapping points are associated with meridian based traditions. We can discuss that framework, but you don't need to adopt a belief system to participate, and you can describe your experience in your own terms.

Will I need to talk about difficult experiences?

We agree on what to focus on before beginning. You can tell me if you don't want to discuss something or would prefer to pause.

What if I become upset?

We can slow down, pause or stop, and discuss what you're experiencing before deciding whether to continue.

Can I use tapping between sessions?

If appropriate, I can show you a simple sequence to practise, and we discuss what to use it for and when to stop and seek support. You don't need to revisit distressing memories on your own.

Can EFT be included in online sessions?

Yes. I demonstrate the sequence and guide you through it online. You'll need space to sit comfortably and move your hands.

Can I book an EFT only appointment?

No. EFT is included within integrated sessions when it fits the agreed focus and you're comfortable with it. We begin with a consultation about what you'd like help with.
